Christmas Baby

CHRISTMAS BABY

That winter’s night I had just given birth
and he was beautiful
I just wanted to feed him and get to know him
but something happened.

It was almost midnight but the sky grew light
a golden angel came
he told us to go where a Baby lay in a manger
born to save the world.

It became dark again save for one bright star
as we trotted into history
across the snowy plain – myself, the other sheep,
and my own wee lamb.
